Don’t panic, but we’re in the “ember/ber” end of the year! How did that happen?
As you may know, one of my favourite times of the month is being able to select some brand new books to read. For September, I’ve got a nice mixture of different genres and themes. I can’t wait to start them!
I’m currently half way through this book and I can’t put it down! It’s about a little girl called Elsa (no, not that one!) who spends a lot of time with her amazingly cool grandma. They have a secret language, lose themselves in fairy-tales and break into zoos at the dead of night!
When Elsa’s granny dies, she leaves behind a series of letters apologising to the people she’s hurt in her life and it’s Elsa’s job to deliver them all. It becomes the start of her greatest adventure.
Seeing Other People follows the story of Joe Clarke who wakes up in bed with the gorgeous new office intern. However, he has no recollection of what happened and had no intention of having an affair.
Of course, his beloved wife Penny finds out and leaves him. It’s now up to Joe to make things right and find out exactly how this happened. I’ve been recommended Mike Gayle’s books by quite a few people so I can’t wait to start this.
If you’ve never read any of Matt Haig’s books before or don’t follow him on Twitter, you definitely should! He’s not only a great writer but he’s an incredibly honest person who talks openly about writing, books and mental illness.
Reasons to Stay Alive is about Matt’s own personal struggle with depression and anxiety. This book is all about making the most of your life and discusses on how to live, love, read and feel better. A must read for anyone who has struggled with mental illness or knows someone who has.
What are you reading this month?
