Showcase Sunday is hosted by the lovely Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. It’s a chance for bloggers to show of their weekly book swag and an opportunity to meet other bloggers and talk about all things bookish!
I had a lovely treat waiting for me in my mailbox this week: Seeing Other People* by Mike Gayle. I’ve been meaning to read some of his work for a while now after being recommended to me by a good friend.
Seeing Other People – which will be released Saturday 10th September – follows the story of Joe Clarke who wakes up in bed with the gorgeous new office intern. Doesn’t sound so bad, right? Except Joe has no recollection of what happened, had no intention of having an affair and is married with two children.
Mortified by this, he vows to be a better man, that’s until his beloved wife Penny finds out and leaves him. However, things aren’t quite what they seem and Joe now has to team up with his awful ghost of an ex-girlfriend to make things right.
Seeing Other People is about love, parenthood and fidelity and I can’t wait to start reading it! I’ve heard so many good things about Mike Gayle. I’ve also been meaning to read more novels from Birmingham authors for a very long time, so this book will be just what I need to start exploring authors from my hometown.
What lovely books did you receive, buy or borrow this week?
*A big thanks to Hodder & Stoughton for sending me a copy to review.
