Showcase Sunday is hosted by the lovely Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. It’s a chance for bloggers to show of their weekly book swag and an opportunity to meet other bloggers and talk about all things bookish!
The words on everybody’s lips this week has been “Go Set a Watchman“, the highly anticipated follow up to To Kill a Mocking Bird. The second release from Harper Lee has seen some fans waiting more than fifty years to get their hands on new material!
Of course, I’d pre-ordered my copy and excitedly ran to Waterstones after work on release day to retrieve it. The shop front was a sea of orange and red to celebrate the biggest book launch of the year.
After getting my hands on my hardback copy, I got slightly distracted by a ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer because, of course I did! Who honestly goes into Waterstones and just buys one book?! No one, that’s who.
At the beginning of the year I attempted to stick to a six-month book buying ban, and although that didn’t go exactly to plan, I only slipped up a couple of times and felt that I deserved a bookish treat (or three) to quench my book buying thirst!
I went with Yes Please by Amy Poehler and Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham because I love me a funny lady! I greatly admire both of them for their strength, humour and creativity. I can’t wait to start reading their books and pick up some inspiration on the way.
What books did you buy, borrow or receive this week?
